Transfer Menu Online Help SYSTEM COMMANDS -------------- C - Chat Room. This puts you in the Chat Room. You can send messages to other users, page the Sysop, request a private chat with other users and block messages from other users. Type a ? to see all of the Chat Room commands. I - Info on system. This will display any information about this BBS that the sysop has included, such as BBS Rules, etc. O - Off the system. This logs you off the BBS. /O - Log off immediately without confirmation and don't show logoff message. Q - Quit to the BBS Main Menu. T - Transfer Options. This will allow you to set your default protocol, whether or not to do a Newscan of the transfer system after a Newscan of the message subs, whether to list extended descriptions and whether to search extended descriptions during the F-ind command. W - Who's Online/Chat. You can list users online and enter the Chat Room. Y - Your Transfer Stats. This displays all transfer info such as number and size of files uploaded and downloaded as well as other information and ratios. ? - This Menu. This will display the Transfer Menu. = - Transfer Administrators. This lists any users that have administrative control of various Areas or Directories and will likely answer questions regarding files in these locations. Control O - This displays this context-sensitive On-line Help display. Control T - This displays the current time, the time you have been on-line, and your time remaining before forced logoff. Spacebar - Abort. This aborts a text or file listing. If a high speed modem is being used, text may continue to be displayed until the modem's buffer is emptied. B - Batch Commands - This will show you a sub-menu of the batch transfer commands. D - Download a file from the current directory. You may enter global filename characters, such as "Herm*", and you may download all Herm(es) files. After listing out information on each matching file, you will be asked for the protocol you wish to use. If you decide you do not wish to download it, hit "Q" or "0", and you will not. U - Upload a file to the current directory. You will be prompted for the filename, a short description and an extended description (10 lines maximum). You will then be shown the transfer protocols by which the file is to be transferred. A ? at that prompt will show all available protocols. R - Remove file. You can only remove a file that you uploaded. You will be prompted for the filename and then shown the file and asked to confirm the deletion. All files you remove will also cause any upload credit to be removed too. Z - Upload to the sysop. This command works like the U-pload command except that the file is automatically placed in the Sysop transfer directory, and is not accessible by other callers. FILE SEARCHING ------------- F - Find Description. This command will search for matching text in the descriptions, and, if selected from your Transfer Defaults, the extended descriptions as well. You will be prompted to enter the text that you want to find. You can enter a partial name as the BBS will list all files that match the text whether a full name or not. J - Jump to Area #. This allows you to go to another transfer Area. The BBS will show you all areas you have access to. You should then enter the Area you wish to go to. H - Areas/Directories. This shows a listing of all Areas and Directories, and can help you find the a specific file transfer directory. L - List Files in Directory. This will list matching files ONLY in the current directory. You will be prompted for the full or partial filename. You can enter any part of a name and the BBS will return all matching text in the filename. If you want to list all files in the directory, do not enter any name at the prompt. S - Search for matching files in ALL directories. You will be prompted for the full or partial filename. You can enter any part of a name and the BBS will return all matching text in the filename. If you want to display all files on the BBS, do not enter any name at the prompt. N - New Scan all Directories. This will list all new files since your last logon. You will be prompted whether to list only new files in the current directory or the entire BBS. P - Set New Scan Date. If you wish to see all new files after a certain date, enter the starting date for the new file search. Then when you enter N to scan new files, the date used will be the date you just entered rather than the date you last did a new file scan. When you enter the date, you must use two digits each for the month/day/year. * - List Directories. This command will list all available directories in the current transfer Area. # - Number. Enter a number to go to that transfer Directory. + or > - This allows you to go to the next higher Directory. - or < - This allows you to go to the next lower Directory.
