IMPORTANT NEWS! Because of potential problems at the time, and the fact that I really need the system for consulting work, I decided to take BBBBBS down permanently June 22, 1996. In 53 months of operation, over 48,000 books were downloaded. I had two phone lines for all but the first year. The BBS was a success, and would have continued to be had I the energy to keep it going.
I continued to run the BBS system as a private system for a few people and to assist my consulting work. I continued with Fidonet as well. However December 31, 1997 I shut it down, dedicating the phone line to full time FAX and PPP Internet access. In February 1999 I deleted the phone line and went to ADSL.
The BBS ran RemoteAccess software on the OS/2 operating system.
Of course, BBSes have all but gone away now with the advent of easy, cheap internet access, but it certainly served its purpose and had a large following.
